New Boston Police officers is [sic] asking for the public’s assistance in locating an man who mugged a women [sic] for her purse in a parking lot on Wednesday.
According to a report from the New Boston Police, around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, a 39-year-old Portsmouth woman was in the parking lot near the Dollar General store and Blackburns Market. As she was getting in her car, a white male approached her, knocked her to the ground and stole her purse.
The man ran to the passenger side of a waiting car which then drove off at a high speed, the report said.
There were several witnesses to the crime, but no one got the license plate number. The small car was described as red or maroon, possibly a Chevrolet Corsica.
The robbery suspect is described as a heavy-set white male in his 20s with brown hair in bowl-cut style. He was wearing blue shorts and a red T-shirt. The driver of the car was described as a black male, possibly in his 20s, with a short haircut.
The victim suffered only minor injuries when she was knocked to the ground. She was treated at the scene.
