Nine dead thanks to a micro gun ban policy. A gun ban. As a former full-time Paramedic, I can tell you that you can’t get mad at the police for their response time — I’m only showing it as part of the total understanding of the incident in reasonable expectation. The Gun Ban is to blame, and no one else.

Lately, liberals (read: statists) have been giving me a hard time about my opposition to a gun control initiative that would limit gun purchases to one per month per owner. Since I a) don’t like the government telling me how many guns I can own, and b) just hate having liberals (read: statists) mad at me, I’ve come up with a solution. Now Cincinnati can join the ranks of the ridiculed, but at least our dapper Mayor Mark Mallory, wasn’t stupid enough to utter the following:

Over the years the anti-gun left has spread a lot of disinformation about guns and gun owners. Aided by a complicit establishment media they have been largely unchallenged in the court of public opinion. Even though it seems like there is a conspiracy between anti-gun groups and the establishment media to guns, nothing can be further from the truth.

The sad truth is both groups honestly believe the crap they disseminate about guns.

WHIOTV.com reported that a convicted child molester with an extensive criminal background was charged with falsifying his concealed carry license application. He conveniently left off all of the prior convictions that would disqualify him for a concealed handgun license.

As we noted a year ago, “Even though we have pro-gun leaders in the Ohio House, Ohio Senate, and Governor’s mansion, we do not expect this year to be without problems.” Turns out that was an understatement.

The fact that we have not been able to pass a single law to improve our out-dated laws indicates how difficult it can be to pass legislation. We must acknowledge our failures and correct them if we are to get any real improvements this year.

With the recent cold weather I was reflecting on how convenient it is not to have to have my firearm in “plain sight” while driving. This is the first winter that we don’t have to try to tuck in a heavy ski jacket or a long trench coat behind our sidearm to comply with a moronic law. Our law changed because we worked hard at it. We were unified. We let the legislators hear from us.

January:
The year started with the swearing in of Governor Strickland (D) finally giving us a friend in the Governor’s mansion. Strickland quickly showed hunters he was a friend by appointing Sean Logan to head the ODNR. Soon Anthony Celebrezze was added to the team. These friends would soon pay dividends to Ohio gun owners.
