Free Chicago! (Has a massacre happened in YOUR gun free zone today?)
By Gerard Valentino
Five more of my hometown brethren were killed this weekend, just outside Chicago at a Lane Bryant clothing store in Tinley Park. Unlike many cities, Chicago’s suburban population never admits they are from Cicero, or Naperville, or Westmont, they always say they are from Chicago. Many old northern cities have evolved to the point where the main city became irrelevant, like Detroit, MI or my current hometown, Columbus, OH, yet Chicago has always been central to the suburb’s identity.
The anti-gun culture prevalent in the Chicago Mayoral administration and years of vilifying gun owners is also part of Chicago’s culture. A sad situation that make pro-gun Chicagoans seethe with anger because year after year it is one of the murder capitals of the world. Still, Mayor Richard Daley chooses to disarm Chicago’s law-abiding population without doing a thing to stem the tide of murders, rapes and robberies committed against those he disarmed.
Op-Ed: In Election Season, Mum’s the Word about Gun Control
By Don B. Kates Jr.
Are this year’s U.S. presidential candidates avoiding the gun issue?
Last week, San Francisco’s First District Court of Appeal struck down that city’s two-year-old law that confiscated all handguns and rendered all other guns useless by banning ammunition sales. And on March 9 of last year, a federal court of appeals invalidated District of Columbia laws that banned handguns and precluded keeping any gun for defense in the home. That case is now in the Supreme Court, which many expect will hold that such laws violate the Constitution’s guarantee that law-abiding, responsible adults may have guns to defend their homes and families.
Ironically, though these laws represent the ultimate goals of the gun “control” (actually gun ban) movement, they epitomize that movement’s political downfall. For Democratic candidates, an Eleventh Commandment has evolved: “Don’t mention guns”—while formerly anti-gun Republicans Romney and Giuliani now declare themselves faithful advocates of gun rights.
Ohio House of Representatives Honors Buckeye Firearms Association with Proclamation

The Ohio House of Representatives, under the sponsorship of Representative Tom Patton, House District 18, has issued a proclamation of congratulations to Buckeye Firearms Association.
Here is the text of the proclamation:
“On behalf of the members of the House of Representatives of the 127th General Assembly of Ohio, we are pleased to congratulate the BUCKEYE FIREARMS ASSOCATION on being named the 2007 Grassroots Organization of the Year by the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.
“This prestigious distinction is a fitting tribute to the Buckeye Firearms Association, for it has attained a remarkable record of service in preserving our Second Amendment rights. The group’s success is a justifiable source of pride and an outstanding reflection not only on the organization itself but also on its hard-working members.
Castle Doctrine: Interested party hearing in Senate brings out the gun ban extremists
Wednesday was another great day for pro-gun, pro-self-defense, and good people of Ohio. SB184, known as Castle Doctrine, received a third hearing and the anti-gun, anti-self defense, anti-crime victim social do-gooders had their say. While anyone would have a hard time explaining and defending their view of the world, the people they chose looked more inept than ever.

The long-awaited return of the Gun Show to Columbus!
Update: PRO/C&E show this weekend at Vets Aug 9-10
Well, here we finally are. Last March I was preparing to announce here BFA’s inclusion in the First Gun show in Columbus in 20 years. This show was only made possible by our passage of HB 347 which preempted local ordinances and gun bans.
If you’ve been paying attention you also know that the show was unavoidable put on hold due to circumstances beyond the control of the dedicated people at PRO.
Thankfully PRO has partnered with a wonderful company “C&E” to produce a new line up of central Ohio area gun shows. The first will be this weekend Aug 9 & 10 at Vets memorial. This will be the largest central Ohio show in years! Shows are also scheduled for Wilmington and Westland mall later in the year.
C & E is dedicated to producing a fun, safe and very professional show. At last notice had upwards of 800 vendors lined up for this weekends event. So it will be big! We hope everyone will help make this first show in Columbus a hugh success. See you there!
