Chicago mayor’s armed guards catch escaped murder, but still prefers his subjects remain defenseless

Noted gun grabber and first rate hypocrite Mayor Richard Daley of Chicago was vacationing at his family’s cottage in Michigan recently when one of his armed body guards caught an escaped murderer who was walking nearby. Daily, who accepts armed guards for himself while denying Chicagoans the right to carry a gun for self-defense, was relatively quiet about the incident.

Maybe, for once, he realized the hypocrisy in his policy to deny millions of Chicagoans the right to use a gun for self-defense while he cavorts about with heavily armed guards. Had Daley been the average Illinoisan vacationing in Michigan, instead of the escaped murderer being confronted with a gun, the thug would have been free to attack the family without fear.

A bill working its way through the U.S. Senate, which promises to improve and simplify CCW reciprocity nationwide, may receive a vote today in the form of an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (S. 1390).

S. 845 is a bill to amend chapter 44 of title 18, United States Code, to “allow citizens who have concealed carry permits from the State in which they reside to carry concealed firearms in another State that grants concealed carry permits, if the individual complies with the laws of the State.”

In other words, if you have a license, you could carry in every state that allows concealed carry!

ODNR Division of Wildlife Officer Cadets Graduation 2009

The Wildlife Officer Cadet Class of 2009 graduated July 2, 2009. The graduation ceremonies were held in Columbus at the Ohio Department of Transportation Headquarters. A luncheon reception followed at the ODNR Division of Wildlife District 1 Offices. The graduation ceremonies were attended by family and friends of the cadets as well as officials from ODNR and the Division of Wildlife.

Following completion of the Ohio Peace Officers Basic Training course on May 1, the cadets were provided with nine weeks of additional specialized training by the Division of Wildlife. In addition to wildlife law enforcement procedures and agency policies, the cadets received training in areas such as wildlife and fish management, communications, public relations, administration, education, hunter safety, and special projects.

Other than declaring war, neither house of Congress has a more solemn responsibility than the Senate’s role in confirming justices to the U.S. Supreme Court. As the Senate considers the nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor, Americans have been watching to see whether this nominee – if confirmed – would respect the Second Amendment or side with those who have declared war on the rights of America’s 80 million gun owners.

From the outset, the National Rifle Association has respected the confirmation process and hoped for mainstream answers to bedrock questions. Unfortunately, Judge Sotomayor’s judicial record and testimony clearly demonstrate a hostile view of the Second Amendment and the fundamental right of self-defense guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution.
