Firearms Industry Applauds Introduction of Fishing and Hunting Heritage Bill

NEWTOWN, Conn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation, the trade association for the firearms, ammunition, hunting and shooting sports industry, applauded the introduction of legislation, the Recreational Fishing and Hunting Heritage and Opportunities Act (HR 3749), to greatly enhance the ability of federal land managers to provide, promote and plan for recreational uses that balance the needs and interests of all outdoor enthusiasts.

The bill, introduced by U.S. Reps. Dan Boren (D-Okla.) and Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), requires that all federal public land planners evaluate the effects that management initiatives have on outdoors activities and provide a clear analysis of how proposed actions would affect these traditional users of federal public lands.

Reps. Seth Morgan & Jarrod Martin introduce HB315: Intrastate Firearms & Ammunition

Representative Seth Morgan (R-36) of Huber Heights and Rep. Jarrod Martin (R-70) of Beavercreek have introduced House Bill 315, which seeks to “provide that ammunition, firearms, and firearm accessories that are manufactured and remain in Ohio are not subject to federal laws and regulations derived under Congress’ authority to regulate interstate commerce and to require the words “Made in Ohio” be stamped on a central metallic part of any firearm manufactured and sold in Ohio.”

Toledo bar patrons forget guns are illegal there; Gun ban extremists forget to have some class

A wild shootout at a bar in Toledo, Ohio is making the rounds on YouTube and several other websites. As usual, the anti-gun crowd is using such a case to push their biased and misguided agenda. Luckily, in this case nobody was hurt, which has to be a disappointment to them since they like to use the death of others in their emotion based arguments against guns.

The recent exploitation of the tragic death of the gun-toting soccer mom from Pennsylvania is also proof that the anti-gun leadership has yet to find a tragedy they won’t try to exploit.

One anti-gun organization had the gall to refer to such a tragic event as “ironic” – a sick, disgusting and contemptuous way to describe the tragic death of two people. This from a group that claims to truly care about the safety of the general public and claim to be on the side of compassion. We can only guess they would have preferred a staggering body count in the Toledo bar shoot-out to better exploit it for their own gain.

Governor Ted Strickland attends 2009 Buckeye Bash; promises to veto any anti-gun legislation

Attendees of the 2009 Buckeye Bash already knew they were in for a special time on Saturday, October 17, but didn’t know until soon after they arrived that the evening was going to be made even more special by the appearance of Governor Ted Strickland.

The 2009 Buckeye Bash, which was held at Cardinal Center Campgrounds and Shooting Center in Marengo, just 30 miles north of Columbus, was held in support of Buckeye Firearms Foundation, an Ohio not-for profit foundation which is pursuing a lawsuit against the City of Cleveland for enforcing illegal gun control laws.

Abduction and robberies at or near Ohio campuses exposes need to lift concealed carry ban

Another wave of armed robberies put Columbus college students at risk yet again due to the archaic ban on legal concealed carry on campus. As a result, students are easy pickings for criminals looking for a sure thing.

In this case, one student from Capitol University in Bexley was robbed and two different students at Ohio State were targeted. One student was kidnapped from the OSU campus at gunpoint and taken to an ATM to get cash for his attackers. Luckily, none of the students were harmed. An employee at a UniPrint store on the OSU campus, however, wasn’t so fortunate. Two armed suspects, both described as black males wearing ski masks, forcefully entered the store before it had opened (bypassing the “no-guns” signs prominently displayed on the front doors) and pistol-whipped the employee.

Once again, Ohio’s ban on concealed carry on campus left several college students at the whim of armed thugs. To think armed robbers don’t know that students are disarmed because of our current concealed carry law is laughable. Of course armed robbers know where to go in order to find unarmed victims.

The Ohio State University Pistol Club: A cause worth supporting

You may not be aware of the existence of the OSU Pistol Club, but it has been around since the 1960’s. The Pistol Club exists to help promote the shooting sports to students and faculty on the campus of Ohio State.

The club provides marksmanship and safety training via NRA certified instructors, firearm rental, ammunition, targets, and safety equipment to all who come to shoot. If they choose to participate, attendees are giving assistance in qualifying in the Bullseye Pistol and Handgun Marksmanship qualification programs offered by the National Rifle Association.

The club utilizes a newly remodeled 20 position on-campus firing range that remains OSU’s little secret. This often goes unnoticed by many students. However recent in-house promotion changes have increased the attendance greatly. In the Spring Quarter 2009 the club had over 100 individual shooters come to take part in the experience.
