Long-time Buckeye Firearms Assocation volunteer Leader Larry S. Moore has been named the League of Ohio Sportsmen/Ohio Wildlife Federation Hunter Educator of the Year.
“It is exciting to be honored for hunter education work and recognized by your peers,” Moore says. “There are people in the League who have been teaching for 40 years.”

It’s time we allow concealed carry on America’s university campuses.
Maybe an armed, well-trained professor might have been able to stop the graduate student who went on a shooting rampage Thursday in a Northern Illinois University lecture hall, killing six and wounded 15 before turning the gun on himself.
And maybe someone with a weapon could have stopped the massacre at Virginia Tech last year that left 32 students and teachers dead.
We’ll never know.
As a society, we must have a serious screw loose when these horrific shooting rampages keep happening again and again. Something must be done to make our campuses safe once more.
Granting law-abiding handgun license holders the right to take their weapons onto college and university campuses is one thing we should do.
Alright, you know the facts. Now answer the question: What are the tort liabilities?

It’s time to forget about writing more gun bans, time to quit profiling (it’s a stalling tactic for political reasons) and time to litigate. The first order of business for any damaged plaintiff is to sue everybody. This would be all colleges who ban weapons, including those who have seen their students murdered and those who have yet to see students killed thanks to the gun bans which are now ringing the dinner bell for campus shooters in increasing numbers.

How long does this have to happen? How many of my home state brethren have to die? When will people like Chicago Mayor Daley and Governor Blagojevich realize they are leaving their citizens at the whim of thugs and the deranged?
The sad truth is they will never get it – they will never learn that their draconian gun policies don’t work. Chicago leads the nation in murders nearly every year, yet Mayor Daley doesn’t get that criminals know Chicagoans are disarmed. The same is true for colleges where students are easy victims, left to die in masse without the ability to defend their life.
The ivory tower is instead becoming akin to the Town of London, where people go to die in tragic and often gruesome ways.

The impact you can make on these races cannot be overstated. Due to the limited number of people who vote in primary elections, each vote counts as a greater percentage of the total votes cast. In past years strong pro-gun candidates have lost by as few as 10 votes. Can there be any doubt that there were at least 10 pro-gun voters in those districts who stayed home because it was “only a primary”? Can there be any doubt that one hour of time by a pro-gun volunteer could have influenced the votes of enough people to change the outcome?

Following the latest multiple-victim public shooting on the Northern Illinois University campus, radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh focused his national audience on the fact that these shootings keep occurring in what he calls “these wonderful, Utopian, marvelous little college campi that is a gun-free zone.”
This is another case in point where you have a liberal gun-free zone, hate-free zone. You go out and say you got something, but you don’t got it. Just because you say it doesn’t mean you got it. This wacko planned it. He planned it and executed it, and he knew that there wouldn’t be anybody else in the time he had to do his damage that had a gun to fire back at him. …This is just classic symbolic feel-good liberalism that ends up putting people at risk because it fails to recognize that people are different. When it looks at either the demented or the sick or the truly sane who are yet criminally oriented, they look at them as no different than anybody else…
Sadly, despite overwhelming evidence which proves that “increasing gun free zones increases murders,” it is clear from media coverage of the NIU Saint Valentine’s Day massacre that Buckeye state college students’ shroud of denial has still not been penetrated.

Ohio gun owners could get some tax relief to go along with their concealed handgun license if a recently introduced bill in the Ohio House of Representatives is passed.
HB478, sponsored by State Representative Dan Dodd (D-Hebron), would “allow a refundable tax credit against the personal income tax for concealed-carry license fees.” Every dollar you pay out for your license would be reimbursed by the state at tax time.
