By Gerard Valentino The City of Chicago has a long and storied relationship with the gun, and particularly the Thompson submachine gun made famous by gangsters during the prohibition era. Many credit…

Exposed: Bloomberg’s Blueprint for Gun Control
By Sebastian (snowflakesinhell.com)
I have obtained a copy of Bloomberg’s secret “Blueprint for Federal Action on Guns” which is really a blueprint for how the Obama Administration can screw gun owners without needing anything from Congress. Chuck Michel is responsible for filing a Freedom of Information Act request to get this one out in public where it belongs. (If you want to get the exclusive on this kind of stuff, I would suggest heading over to calgunlaws.com and registering. Their law firm does a lot of cutting edge Second Amendment legal work. It’s a great resource.)
This was the infamous 40 recommendations that the Washington Post reported on a few months ago. If this document doesn’t convince you that Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG) is a significantly more serious threat than any other gun control organization out there, nothing will. Whoever wrote this knows the ATF very well, and understands federal gun laws well enough to know how to effectively make changes using only administrative and regulatory changes, which do not require action from the U.S. Congress.
Gun control run amok: British hunters complain of ‘hysterical’ police response to legal field sports
The U.K. Telegraph is reporting that British sportsmen are complaining they are increasingly being targeted by armed police responding to panicky calls from the public.
The Countryside Alliance has described the “massive overreaction” by officers as “hysterical”, while the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) has warned that an incident could lead to a lawful shooter being killed by police marksmen.
Gun sales data reveal regional preferences
Where you live says a lot about what types of firearms you prefer, the latest data from the National Sporting Goods Association (NSGA) shows. In 2008, southern Atlantic states led per capita…
NRA’s Eddie Eagle GunSafe(r) Program Reaches 23 Millionth Child
FAIRFAX, Va. – The Eddie Eagle GunSafe® Program, NRA’s groundbreaking gun accident prevention course for children, has surpassed yet another milestone by reaching its 23 millionth child.
Created in 1988 by past NRA President Marion P. Hammer, in consultation with law enforcement officers, elementary school teachers, and child psychologists, the program provides pre-K through the third grade children with simple, effective rules to follow should they encounter a firearm in an unsupervised setting: “If you see a gun: STOP! Don’t Touch. Leave the Area. Tell an Adult.”
“The Eddie Eagle GunSafe® Program has been a tremendous success,” said Kayne Robinson, Executive Director of NRA General Operations. “Twenty-three million young people have received Eddie’s lifesaving message, and the future of the program is bright.”
Governor Strickland hosts 3rd Governor’s Sportsmen Reception
By Larry S. Moore
Governor Ted Strickland hosted his third Governor’s Sportsmen Reception on December 23. Once again leading sportsmen and sportswomen from across Ohio converged at the Governor’s Mansion to share the spirit and warmth of the season. Well before he was Governor, Strickland identified with the sportsmen, gun and conservation groups across Ohio. Since becoming Governor, he has maintained the close contact through the annual reception, spring youth turkey hunting and the annual Fish Ohio Day at Lake Erie. No governor in my memory, at least since Jim Rhodes, has made such an effort and connection with Ohio’s sportsmen and sportswomen.
The Governor, looking fit and relaxed, circulated among the assembled guests greeting many friends and introducing himself to new visitors. ODNR Director Sean Logan and I had an opportunity to share holiday greetings. While discussing the ease with which the Governor individually welcomed the guests, Director Logan noted that Governor Strickland is most at home with the sportsmen group saying, “These are real people assembled here. They are genuine in their outdoor interests and honest hard working people. These are the people that make Ohio and the people with which the Governor most readily identifies.”
Cox Publishing newspapers at it again: Columnist regurgitates anti-gun statistics in attack on concealed carry
By Gerard Valentino
– Joseph Goebbels, Reichsminister of Propaganda in Nazi Germany from 1933 to 1945
A recent op-ed written by Dayton Daily News columnist Martin Gottlieb, and entitled “In wake of conceal/carry, new stats worth a look,” tries to paint Ohio’s concealed handgun license-holders as one breath away from going on a killing spree. As usual with the establishment media, Gottlieb’s Daily News article (which was republished in other Cox Publishing-owned papers in Ohio, including the Hamilton Journal-News and Lebanon Western-Star) uses arguments based on the same tired anti-gun themes, with a dose of deception to make his case.
The op-ed is peppered with dubious “facts,” while making statements that are supposed to show he is open to both sides of the argument. But, anyone looking at the piece objectively can see how Mr. Gottlieb tries to paint all license holders with the same brush.
Like a magician, he uses a few sleight of hand tricks to bury admissions that license holders really aren’t a risk to public safety under the weight of anecdotal evidence that he claims proves otherwise. It’s easy to see through his ruse, however.
By pointing out the bad actions of a few criminals, Gottlieb is planting the seed that anyone with a license is a risk to public safety. What he fails to do, however, is bring up a single issue that hasn’t already been discredited in the debate over concealed carry laws.
His own words, and willingness to use lies of omission, are enough to show that Mr. Gottlieb had a premise, and then set about finding facts to fit.
2009 – The Year In Review
By Chad D. Baus
While there is far too much to cover in a single article, we reflect on some of the important events of 2009.
January:
The year begins with the inauguration of former Joyce Foundation board member Barack Hussein Obama, who quickly proves he lied during the campaign in describing himself as a pro-Second Amendment candidate by announcing the administration’s declaration of war on American gun owners on the new White House website.
In response to an unprecedented spike in sales of firearms resulting from the election, The Outdoor Wire names Barack Obama its “Gun Salesman of the Year”.
The 111th Congress kicks off with the introduction of one of the most draconian gun control bills to be offered in years. Representative Bobby Rush (D-IL), a former Black Panther leader, files H.R. 45, which he calls the “Blair Holt’s Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009.”
Disabled man stops home invasion with 3 gun shots

Gary Wroblewski is confined to a wheelchair and therefore an easy target for criminals. His physical limitations and lack of mobility are the type of weakness that cowards look for in an easy mark.
But, Mr. Wroblewski is anything but a helpless victim.
Instead, he took the time to arm himself and learn how to properly use his gun. That decision just might have saved his life on December 15th when home invaders decided to attack him inside his home.
From the story at Ocala.com:
The three men — Gonzales, Kenney and the teen — went to Wroblewski’s Silver Springs Shores home to commit a home invasion/robbery.
The teen remained in the vehicle while Gonzalez and Kenney went to the home. Gonzalez knocked on the front door and asked Wroblewski for assistance with his car.
When the homeowner refused to come out, Kenney, hiding in the shrubs, barreled through the door and knocked Wroblewski, who uses a wheelchair, down.
As he was going down, Wroblewski fired shots at Kenney. One of the bullets fatally wounded the 24-year-old.
