Fighting for your life: Thousands getting conceal carry licenses
No one wants to be put in a life or death situation, but thousands of Ohioans are preparing for one by getting conceal carry licenses.
A Dark Day for Freedom in Washington
by Chad D. Baus
Barack Obama, who has been termed the most anti-gun president in American history, has won a narrow victory and will return to the White House for a second term. While the president will be held somewhat in check by a Republican Congress (which looks to have expanded its pro-gun majority), he is expected to expand his anti-gun, anti-freedom policies through executive orders and bureaucratic rules, both of which he has wielded as dictatorial mandates.
Efforts to take the U.S. Senate also fell short. As such, under continued Democrat leadership, pro-gun legislation such as national right to carry reciprocity will continue to face a long road to passage. Gun owners will still be exposed to the threat of ratification of anti-Second Amendment United Nations treaties, and perhaps worst of all, Barack Obama’s anti-Second Amendment Supreme Court nominees will face a much easier road to confirmation.
At the state level, the prospects for Ohio gun owners look much better. Buckeye Firearms Association will continue to evaluate election results and update our endorsement pages throughout the day, but the early picture suggests that our pro-gun majority has improved yet again.

Election Day is here.
Buckeye Firearms Association has endorsed more county and local candidates than ever before. We have advised supporters on NRA-endorsed Federal candidates for races we did not endorse in. Every race matters. Please make sure to vote and remind friends and neighbors to vote too. Experts agree that voter turnout will be a deciding factor in many tight races. There will be several races that will be decided by less than 1% of the vote. With your help, we will be on the winning side of that 1%.
Several of our endorsed candidates have been attacked by the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP). The FOP has testified against every piece of pro-gun legislation that the Ohio legislature has passed. Their predictions have been wrong every time. But they will be there pushing their radical agenda to limit your ability to exercise your right to bear arms and legally and defend your own life. When they attack our endorsed candidates, we must all fight to defend them. We must demonstrate to all that voting with the FOP on gun issues leads to defeat, and voting for freedom brings volunteers and votes on Election Day.
Every voter in the country will vote for President. There are many candidates on the ballot, but only two of them can win. Mitt Romney has vowed to protect your Second Amendment rights. Barack Obama said he wants to limit and restrict your rights. A vote for any other candidate is a vote against Romney, the only candidate who can win and defend your rights.
Every Ohio voter also votes on four more critical races. Pro-gun Josh Mandel for U.S. Senate, and Sharon Kennedy, Terrence O’Donnell and Robert Cupp for Ohio Supreme Court.
Most states have a U.S. Senator up for election. These are six year terms, so it is critical that we elect good people. Senate President Harry Reid has always been pro-gun, but has appointed extreme anti-gun people to powerful committee chairmanship positions. The Republicans must take four Senate seats to have a majority, replace Reid, and appoint pro-gun people to those positions so we can pass national reciprocity and other improvements for gun owners.
Every U.S. Congress seat is up for election. Because of the 2010 census and redistricting, Ohio has lost two seats and combined multiple districts. Other states have added seats. There is going to be significant change in the U.S. House. Make sure you know your new candidates and vote freedom first. Click here to view NRA-PVF endorsement page for your area.

All of the Ohio House and half of the Ohio Senate are up for election. These candidates are the ones to affect changes to concealed carry laws. Most states have similar elections for candidates that control state laws, those which most affect gun owners in day to day life.
There are thousands of other local elections. From county prosecutor, to Sheriff, to city council and judges. All of these offices are important to gun owners. Even offices that do not directly affect gun owners are important because they give a person name recognition to run for higher office.
Elections matter. Vote for the people that will fight for the things that are important to you.
To protect your rights, you must vote for candidates who understand and respect the Second Amendment. And it is vital that you vote in EVERY RACE, including those for local offices.
THE POLLS ARE OPEN TODAY from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Romney/Ryan campaign packs West Chester, OH with more than 30,000 supporters
by Jim Irvine
Ohio is a battleground state and both Mitt Romney and Barack Obama are spending significant time here. On Friday night, Buckeye Firearms Association leaders were on hand as Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan were in West Chester, north of Cincinnati. The event was kicked off by Kid Rock.
Over 30,000 people cleared security for the event. Thousands more waited outside as there was no more room inside the event. Listeners got to hear speeches from pro-gun governors Bobby Jindal and Rick Perry. They heard from Josh Mandel, Mary Taylor and Governor Kasich. Even John McCain and Rudy Giuliani gave good speeches. The state was packed by many more leaders all showing support for the Romney/Ryan ticket.
This is Speaker John Boehner’s congressional district and Margie Conditt’s Ohio House district. Every four years they hold a large rally for the GOP presidential candidate. Those who have attended multiple events say this one tops them all. More excitement, more important, more energy and more people. Lots more.
People came early and waited for hours to get good spots. Many were from neighboring communities and some drove for hours to attend. There were people of all ages and backgrounds in attendance. Some attend every year, but for many it was their first time. Some back Romney because of his business success, others for his promise to repeal Obamacare. For some the issues are national security and the administration’s incompetence or worse in dealing with the terrorist attacks and death of our Ambassador and others in Benghazi, Libya. Some are fearful of what Obama would do with Second Amendment issues in a second term. But all are frustrated with the broken promises and failed policies of the last four years.
While Obama supporters were chanting “Four more years,” people at this rally were shouting, “Four more days!”

Fear of 2nd Obama term a boon for gun sales
[Editor’s Note: this article was originally published by The Lima News.]
by Greg Sowinski
LIMA – Artillery Shed manager Josh Bayer has been trying to handle a gun sales boom this year best he can, although he says gun manufacturers have fallen behind demand.
The delays have gotten worse in recent months as the presidential election approaches and supporters of the Second Amendment fear new gun laws and restrictions if President Obama wins a second term, said Bayer whose store is in Lima.
“People are in fear. They want what they can’t get right now,” Bayer said. “Manufactures can’t keep up with what they want.”
Van Wert’s D & D Armory owner Brian Ellerbrock said he has had a steady increase leading up to the election. He said gun owners fear a second term for Obama would mean more restrictive gun laws, and people want to be prepared.
Gun stores are required to perform an FBI background check that screen a buyer to make sure he or she does not have a criminal record before the sale of a gun. Those numbers have been on the rise each year, and this year could set a record.
Through July, the FBI conducted 10.2 million background checks in the country for gun store owners which could beat last year’s record of 16.5 million background checks. During the presidential election in 2008, that number hit 12.7 million.
While the numbers are up, Ellerbrock said it could rise dramatically if Democrats maintain control of the White House. Some people are talking about guns and gun equipment but haven’t yet made purchases, he said.
“If Obama is reelected, we could see a drastic spike in firearms purchasing,” Ellerbrock said. “I think you will see shortages in ammunition, firearms and magazines.”
Report: Debate answer on assault weapons ban could cause problems for Obama
by Chad D. Baus
Fox News’ William La Jeunesse made a recent trip to the Buckeye State to investigate how President Obama’s announcement during the second debate that he would push to renew a ban on certain semi-automatic rifles was being received by voters in this important swing state.
Among others, La Jeunesse interviewed Buckeye Firearms Association Region Leader Joe Eaton.
From the report, which has been aired several times today on Fox News:
President Obama may have been tossing a bone to his base, but one answer in the second presidential debate could come back to haunt him with a key voter group — gun owners.
When asked what the administration has done or plans to do to limit assault weapons at the Oct. 16 debate, Obama said part of the solution to gun violence “is seeing if we can get an assault weapons ban reintroduced.”
That comment caught fire with gun owners.
“If there are undecided voters who put the Second Amendment as their first issue, then certainly the president’s remark about bringing back any type of gun ban is going to chase away those voters,” said Joe Eaton, a regional coordinator with the Buckeye Firearms Association in Ohio.
One of those is independent voter Robert Brewer from Cincinnati.
When he heard the president’s renewed support for an assault weapons ban, Brewer said, “I was thinking I was born in a country (where) I had a right to keep and bear arms and I don’t know what he’s talking about. It goes against the Constitution, which gives me the right to keep and bear arms and that right shall not be infringed.”
