Ashland freedom group holding Bake Sale Lemonade Stand fundraiser to benefit Buckeye Firearms Assoc.
The Coalition Promoting Freedom is holding its 2nd annual Bake Sale/Lemonade Stand “Freedom Day” on Saturday, May 11th, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., at the Fin-Feather-Fur in Ashland.
Celebrating America’s freedom will include supporting and promoting the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, the Right to Bear Arms. Donations only for baked goods (some gluten free) and lemonade.
The “Freedom” is free! All donations will go to the Buckeye Firearms Association (BFA). The BFA is a grassroots political action committee (PAC) here in Ohio dedicated to defending and advancing the right of Ohio citizens to own and use firearms for all legal activities. The Coalition is choosing to donate to BFA because of their dedication to defending Ohioans firearms rights and their recent organization of the Armed Teacher Training Program.
The Buckeye Firearms Foundation paid $30,000 to train 24 educators; more than 1,400 had applied for the training. The three-day course taught participants tactical maneuvers for reacting to school shooters. As part of the program, educators used model guns with plastic pellets while playing roles in gunman scenarios based on real-life situations.

Castle Doctrine law helps homeowners who suffer home invasions in Toledo and Columbus
by Chad D. Baus
WBNS (CBS Columbus) is reporting that an eastside apartment resident fired at burglars inside his home early Wednesday morning, April 24.
Under Ohio’s Castle Doctrine law, if someone unlawfully enters or attempts to enter an occupied home or temporary habitation, or occupied car, citizens have an initial presumption that they may act in self defense, and will not be second-guessed by the State.
A recent Castle Doctrine case in Toledo is also making headlines.
NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits underway today
[Editor’s Note – several Buckeye Firearms Association leaders are on hand in Houston this week for the NRA meetings. If you see them, be sure to say “hi!”.]
by Jim Shepherd
[Today begins] the one hundred and forty second edition of the NRA’s Annual Meeting & Exhibitions. The booths are up, prepped and ready for a crowd anticipated to be larger than last year’s 72,000+ in St. Louis.
It will be the equivalent of a three day love fest for firearms and the Second Amendment-on the inside.
Outside the convention center, the storm of controversy over firearms rights continues as the mainstream media has already started whipping their favorite target, the nameless, faceless National Rifle Association.
The realization that many of today’s so-called journalists have taken the anti-gun movement’s dogma as absolute truth makes it easier to understand why they are so quick to brand nearly five million fellow citizens as “the cause of the violence problem in America” while routinely giving passes to governors who make statements knowing they are patently false. They’re equally quick to hop on any story that portrays gun owners as less-than-desirable citizens.
I don’t know about you, but I really don’t consider myself part of “America’s problem” with anything except aging. And I’m certainly not buying their whining about not being able to pass anti-gun legislation when “90% of Americans want something done about guns.”
